Lesson five: How to prepare before the cohort opens. Let's talk about how to get ready, and I want to take the pressure off right at the start. You do not need to have everything figured out before the cohort opens.
0:13
You don't need a perfect plan. You don't need to know whether you want to sell or hold or grow or step back or reinvent your whole role. You don't need your documents organized. You don't need to show up polished.
0:26
The whole point of the thirty-day experience is to create clarity, so you can't show up behind. But there are a few things you can do now that'll make the experience a lot more valuable.
0:37
Think of this as orientation, not homework. You're not preparing to impress anyone. You're preparing to tell the truth faster. So first thing, if you haven't actually completed the freedom score yet, start there.
0:52
It gives you your baseline across personal, business, and financial freedom, and it shows you where alignment already exists and where friction might be quietly costing you time and energy and confidence.
1:04
And one practical note, if an approved advisor referred you and you took the score through their unique link, you may already be connected to the right waitlist.
1:14
If you came in through the book or a general link, completing the score still gives you that essential starting point.
1:21
Either way, confirming your interest in the next cohort is what tells us you want to be considered for the next group. Second, read chapter three point five of Life First, Business Second.
1:34
We call it the bridge chapter, and that's exactly what it is. It connects the philosophy, the system, and the owner-only environment together. Don't study it like a textbook. Read it for orientation.
1:47
Pay attention to the big picture,
1:50
the triple freedom framework, the option-built operating system, the relationship between the three freedoms, and the reason this whole thing starts with your life instead of your business plan.
2:01
Chapter three point five gives you the map before you walk into the experience. It helps you see that the thirty days isn't some random program.
2:11
It's part of a larger system built to help owners move from awareness to action without blowing up the business that's currently paying the bills. Third, and this one's more about awareness than action.
2:23
Pay attention to your entrepreneurial DNA. Every owner has it. Your entrepreneurial DNA is the whole set of instincts and beliefs and habits and survival patterns that helped you build what you've built.
2:36
Your work ethic, your resilience, your ability to solve problems nobody else could, your tolerance for risk, your willingness to act before you were certain, your ability to just carry pressure. And that DNA is valuable.
2:54
It's a big part of why you've succeeded. But here's the part I really want you to hear. Some of the exact same traits that helped you build the business may now be the things creating pressure, dependency, and delay.
3:08
Your ability to solve problems, it may have trained everyone around you to bring every problem to you. Your high standards, they may have made delegation feel impossible.
3:19
Your resilience may have made it a little too easy to tolerate situations that should have been redesigned years ago. Your deep sense of responsibility may have quietly turned into over-responsibility.
3:31
Your identity as the builder may be the very thing making it hard to become the architect. The goal is not to reject any of that. The goal is to understand it and start using it more intentionally.
3:43
Because freedom doesn't come from becoming someone else. It comes from becoming more deliberate with who you already are. Fourth, I want to introduce you to something we call the entrepreneurial inheritance problem.
3:56
Most owners think about inheritance in financial terms. What will I leave behind? How does the wealth transfer? What happens to the business? What happens to my family if something happens to me?
4:08
All of that matters, but there's a deeper issue most owners never address. Here it is. You built your success through hard-earned wisdom, discipline, judgment, and decision-making ability.
4:22
But most owners never intentionally capture or transfer the secret sauce that created the success in the first place. You can pass down money. You can pass down ownership. You can pass down a whole company.
4:35
But you may never pass down the mindset, the clarity, the work ethic, the value creation lens it actually takes to steward any of it well.
4:42
And that's a real risk because the most important thing you've built might not be the business at all.
4:48
It might be the way you learn to think, the way you solve problems, the way you take responsibility, the way you recover when things go sideways, the way you see possibility where other people only see obstacles.
5:01
Those things are your real entrepreneurial inheritance, and if they stay locked in your head, they're fragile. If they get captured and shared and modeled on purpose, they can become part of your legacy.
5:14
And this isn't just about your kids. It's your spouse, your family, your leadership team, future owners, the people you mentor. So the thirty-day experience isn't only about clarifying what you want from the business.
5:27
It's also about clarifying what you want your business, your leadership, and your life to model. That's why this work goes so far beyond exit planning. It's about freedom, but it's also about legacy.
5:40
And fifth, use the option-built execution guide. It's the companion resource built to help you turn insight into action, and you don't need to complete the whole thing before the cohort.
5:52
Just use it to capture what stands out. Where do you feel stuck? Where are you already clear? Where does the business feel too dependent on you?
6:02
Where have your financial decisions been tied too tightly to business pressure? Where has someday quietly become the actual plan?
6:10
Where do you feel that tension between what you want personally and what the business currently demands? The guide isn't there to create more work. It's there to help you notice what's true.
6:22
Bring those observations into the experience, and that is more than enough. Now let me tell you the real way to prepare. It's not about showing up with perfect answers. It's about showing up with honest questions.
6:35
Questions like, What do I want the business to make possible? What has it been costing me that I've completely normalized? What do I want my role to become? What needs to change for the business to create more options?
6:50
What have I been delaying because the advice felt disconnected from the business? Where do I actually need more liquidity or protection or clarity?
6:59
What do I want my family and my team and my future successors to inherit beyond money? And maybe the simplest, most powerful one. What do I want to stop postponing? You don't need to answer all of those today.
7:13
You just need to be willing to ask them. So here's the last thing I'll leave you with. The thirty-day owner-only experience isn't about proving you're ready. It's about becoming ready through the process itself.
7:27
Ready to clarify, ready to connect, ready to act, ready to build a business that does more than just produce income.
7:34
A business that creates options, supports your life, builds your wealth, and carries your entrepreneurial DNA forward without requiring you to carry every bit of it yourself. That's the work.
7:46
And the best next step is genuinely simple. Confirm your interest in the next cohort. Before you do, sit with one question.
7:56
What do you most want the business to make possible that it doesn't currently make possible enough? And when you got it, finish this sentence. I want the business to make it possible for me to...
8:09
Then go confirm your spot. We'll take it from there.
